EIWAG Meeting With Banyule City Council - Friday 5 June 2009

A representative of the EIWAG met with Mayor of Banyule - Cr. Tom Melican, the Councillor for Griffin Ward Jenny Mulholland, and the Team Leader of Traffic, Mr Paul Bellis on Friday 5 June 2009 to discuss the installation of pedestrian activated signals on the Burke Road North roundabout precinct.

The Burke Road North Roundabout must increasingly be viewed as the odd one out when it comes to a main road roundabout without any pedestrian activated signals. Why is this the case? Especially when its traffic volume and casualty crash rate surpasses most if not all comparable main road roundabouts in suburban Melbourne.

A resident who attend the roundabout rally on Friday 15 May sent this through to me today.

We are members of Bicycle Victoria and they sent this through this week.
I thought it may be of interest from the point of view that cyclists cannot access the bike tracks due to crossing Burke Road North. We will be filling in the survey with that in mind.
